5 out of 5 stars more than a knife its phenomenal!!!   June 22, 2008

This is an excellent knife. I abuse it every day and it just keeps on ticking. The handle fits my hand very, very well and the rubber grip that it has works great even when wet (which doesn't really matter because this knife has a larger rugged hilt so you can stab it as hard as you can into small trees without ever worying about your hand slipping down on the blade). I skinned and quartered two deer with it without having to resharpen the blade, and I craked the lower leg bones without any damage to the blade or dulling it enough to justify resharpening. The blade seems to have a good carbon ratio because it is not difficult to sharpen and it holds an edge good. The balance is more towards the middle of the handle instead of at the index finger like most knifes. Some would say that this is a downfall, but I don't find it to be an inconvienience because if you are doing fine cutting you can simply move your hand farther back on the handle. The balance makes using the butt cap as a hammer work good because you can do it without having to hold the knife by the blade. Also, the saw teeth on the blade work very well because they are the thickest part of the blade, so, the blade is not in constant friction with the object you are cutting unlike most other sawback knives. I could also go on for another 10 sentences about how cool the parachute cutter is, with the sharpening rod and pry bar (so you don't have to use the tip of your knife), but I'll just say it was designed, and works, very well too. If you want a crap survival knife-buy something else, but if you want an outstanding all purpose knife you can put through hell-this is the one to get.
