Bowie Knife September 17, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a very sturdy, strong and big Bowie knife. It has been built to withstand a lot of work and overwork. It is a good tool and in some cases can become a good weapon (for self defense only, I hope). It can also become a beautiful ornamental piece in a knife collector's showcase. A really great knife.
A hard-working companion that will last for generations August 8, 2007 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
First off, a technical detail: this knife is made in Pakistan. Apart from the poor-quality stigma attached to some other Asian imports, I have found that the quality of Pakistani-made knives in recent years has improved, and this Jungle Bowie knife is no exception. As soon as I picked it up I was impressed with its heft, strength, and sheer down-to-earth functionality. Too often it happens that when I get a new knife I feel almost hesitant to break it in... Not with this one! Tough and mean, it's craving to be used and abused.
The Jungle Bowie's parts are strong and sturdy, all put together tightly - this knife is practically unbreakable! For all its impressive size, it has great balance and does not feel clunky or cumbersome or heavy at all when I hold it: a crucial point, considering that it's nearly 18 inches long! For practical knives, their weight and overall feel decide all, and this Bowie passes with flying colors. In fact, it is my favorite Bowie knife of all time. Its wooden handle has just the right thickness and curve to sit comfortably in the palm of a hand; my hands are not that big to begin with, but even for me the grip is secure, snug, and confident.
Let me clarify one point: this bowie knife is made to perform and work hard, not sit around on a collector's shelf gathering dust... It is meant to be a handy survival/working tool (it's practically the axe, saw, and knife all in one). Given its size, it is simply not meant for small delicate tasks where concentrated minute precision is necessary, so make sure to allow it plenty of space (I think this is the simple common-sense point that the negative review below failed to consider). If you already are handy with knives, though, you will find that there is hardly a limit to what work you can do with it, great or small.
If you are looking for a strong, sturdy knife with no frills that you can use in the field, get this one and look no further. The quality and the value are excellent, and I just can't recommend it enough.
Best Bowie EVER!!! April 11, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This knife is amazing! Around a half an inch thick, it cuts wood like no other, and the sawback is amazing! I cut through metal with it, and the blades barely dulled! If you want an awesome, super sturdy, and sharp knife right out of the box, you want the jungle bowie!

This is a [useless] knife. I could barely get more than 2 inches of penatration with it.
