Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Sttructly for intimidation   November 18, 2008
Don't expect to use this item for anything but to scare off intruders or small children. It looks intimidating, but it's so thin, it's barely the thickness of a couple of single edge razor blades. One of the reason I bought it was that the shipping weight was listed at over 7 pounds. That would imply the device is 'substantial'. When I openeded the package, I found that it barely weighed over a pound or two. I simply couldn't hold up to any true machete work. It's only for 'looks'. If you thought you could use it for protetion, you're better-off with a "Louisville Slugger". And don't even get me started on the sheath. First of all, if you hold the machete even a little beyond horizontal, the sheath falls right to the floor. And if you try to modify the sheath some way to enable it to 'hold-on' a little better, the sheath material practically falls apart in your hands. Use this item strictly for a costume prop on Halloween. (Note: I can say ONE good thing about it however...since it's so thin, it does 'take' a edge well with a sharpening stone. But I can't says how long the edge will stay sharp.)
